the driving force behind ISLA Berlin? Charissa opened her nail salon, boutique and women’s space, only six months ago, and is an incredible role model for what you can do when you take action on an idea. She not only started from a need of a good nail salon that did nail art the way she was used to but also observed that her interest in streetwear was often ignored by brands and companies in the industry, simply because their benchmark is the male consumer.

Charissa doesn't see it about changing the streetwear industry to be female, but simply to make the industry aware that women are also consumers and therefore brands should take this into consideration in their marketing.
With this awareness, Charissa has built more than just a nail salon and streetwear shop, but a space designed for women to hang out in. For example, knowing how difficult it can be to practice DJing, Charissa decided to make CDJs available in the shop for women to practice in a safe environment surrounded by a supportive and encouraging community of women who hang out in the shop.

She continues to be a huge supporter of women through art, fashion and music. And to experience it, receive the ISLA Berlin newsletters to be in the know. You don’t want to miss out if you are in Berlin.
