Have you met...

the energetic lady behind the Berlin-based Garden State Candles?

Having only started dabbling in making home-made candles in April 2017, Maya demonstrates what hard work and consistency can make happen. Being aware of the many harmful scented candles available on the market, often unknown to the public, Garden State Candles is an eco-conscious soy wax candle company.
From the packaging to the scent creation to the production (each candle is poured by hand), Maya does everything herself – a true inspiration and role model to aspiring female entrepreneurs. And who wouldn’t want a candle with the logo inspired by Maya’s loving adopted dog, Louee! Maya donates part of the profits to support the Animal Rescue Shelters in Berlin.

Garden State Candles has been featured in a number of stores and media outlets in Germany, France and the US! (CeeCee Berlin, Love From Berlin, Baby Brand France, Indiefoxx, to name a few!)

Since being featured in 2018 two developments have happened. She, along with two other women-owned businesses have opened Allerstr. 11, a unique Berlin concept store where rare plants meet artisanal candles and handmade textiles.

And on top of that, she has gone global, with her candles now available across Europe, the US and even Japan.

You can meet Maya and the other business owners and permanently experience in real-life her candles. The store is also the perfect location for the workshops she offers.

Feature first published January 2018, updated March 2019.
