Have you met...
the woman behind the project Numaru, an exploration of transcultural identity formation through storytelling and culinary experiences? Sun Mee Martin is a Creative Consultant and Culinary Experience Designer. Influenced by her Korean roots, German education and global inspiration, her portfolio showcases projects that intersect food, design, wellbeing and green living. As a result, she has created one-off experiences that are rich in narratives and content that appeals to and engages diverse audiences in meaningful ways.
Immediately after graduating from university in Communication Design, Sun Mee started her career in the freelance world. She has built a portfolio as a Communication Designer and Brand Consultant for NGOs, start-ups and corporations in New York City, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and now in Berlin. |
Since being in Berlin, her passion for food, culture and people has grown deeper. Consequently leading her to opportunities that engage her experiences and interests in interdisciplinary projects. Such examples of the projects have included her time at Agora, the innovation hub for contemporary practices; Food Assembly, a market for local produce and conscious food production; and Coco Yoko & Bell, an experiential dinner salon highlighting female talent. Her strong interest in food has also enabled her to bestow her experiences and skills to assist in building the gastronomic experience platform, RSVP, as the Berlin Ambassador. But her most passionate project to date is her most recent – Numaru, combining a love of food and storytelling with a deep exploration of identity construction.
Numaru is a culinary conversation series on transcultural identity formation; an opportunity to deeply explore the diverse aspects of transcultural identity formation, fostering awareness and empathy. Sun Mee creates a unique dining experience and takes you on a journey that inspires your senses and thoughts, and that deeply explores the art of conversation through storytelling and cultural exchange. The result is an intimate platform that reflects on the ways we create a balanced identity concept in today’s context of multi-cultures, urban society and global influences.

Each experience will be curated around a specific topic within the landscape of transculturality. If you are interested in the project and would like to be personally informed of the dinner conversations, please email Sun Mee.
