HAVE YOU MET…

the photographer behind Goodfeelography? Sylvie Gagelmann has been a photographer for over 20 years. Her biggest love: portraying people.

For Sylvie, a good portrait is not just the image of a person or being able to capture the moment. It is a deeper look into their personality. This is why many people don’t feel comfortable in front of the camera – and that’s okay.

With a specialisation in body language and facial expression, Sylvie shares this knowledge for you to use it consciously as your positive tool. From that point, it is possible to start learning and telling the stories we have inside of us.
With an international array of studies and experiences, Sylvie is always in search for learning. She continually absorbs knowledge about human and photographic skills through books, workshops and working with a lot of people from all backgrounds. Her enthusiasm for people and portraiture remains constant throughout her career and life. Moreover, her studies in design at the Köln International School of Design in Cologne awarded her with knowledge about brand development, CI and design management, which she has applied and expanded for several years as a trend researcher/consultant.
All these opportunities have further been complimented by the ultimate experience as a longstanding assistant to renowned photographers such as Rainer Holz.

After a move to Berlin, she pursed working independently by combining her photographic and consulting skills, enabling her to work for many large companies.

With the shift of technology equipment, Sylvie began exploring smartphone photography coming to realise the incredible results in the spontaneity of being able to capture people’s portraits, especially when it happens unnoticed. This creates more intuition and authenticity in the results.

With this exploration, she started sharing her work on EyeEm and Instagram triggering a lot of social engagement. This led to her being invited to give several lectures on Smartphone Photography and Portraits organised by the likes of Apple, the Berlin State Museums and EyeEm. And from this came the demand for workshops for Apple, EyeEm, airbnb experiences, Neon Wood and Audible. Requests for “Creative Team Building” workshops kept coming in and fed into the emergence of Goodfeelography.

She has since been creating events where people feel comfortable and are able to remove personal barriers, consequently having fun photographing each other with their smartphones. Have a look at this video of how she works.

Her approach and method is a unique opportunity for people looking to grow, not only by learning more about photography for everyday pleasure but learning the close connection with the practice of mindfulness, self-compassion, body language, facial expressions, posing, meditation, self- and external perceptions and the Jacobsen’s relaxation techniques.
